Recycling and preventing litter are two ways in which DEQ supports a cleaner Virginia. Reducing, reusing and recycling can help you, your community, and the environment by saving money, energy and of course, our natural resources.

DEQ works with Virginia citizens, local governments, litter prevention program managers and environmental groups on improving awareness of recycling programs and also how litter damages the environment.

Working with the Litter Control and Recycling Fund Advisory Board, the agency also oversees the distribution of annual grants to localities for beneficial recycling and litter prevention activities.
