To protect Virginia’s natural resources and create a healthier environment, DEQ issues permits to businesses and local, state and federal facilities. These permits limit pollution in order to protect our air, water and land.

Not sure what permit you need? Use our new Permit Key to help you determine the applicability of respective 
permits, registrations, or other approval actions. The key utilizes a directory approach, guiding users through each relevant decision-making workflow in order to determine the universe of applicable actions that require submission to DEQ.
