Title (Project Name): Route 288 and Route 10 Interchange Improvement Project
Description: Chesterfield County Transportation Department (applicant) is applying for an individual permit from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) pursuant to Section 404 of the Clean Water Act (33 U.S.C. §1344) for impacts associated with the Route 288 at Route 10 Interchange Improvement project in Chesterfield County. Chesterfield County proposes the widening of Route 288 southbound to Route 10 eastbound Ramp (Ramp A) from one lane to three lanes, the realignment of the Route 10 eastbound to Route 288 southbound Loop Ramp (Loop A), and the widening of Route 10 eastbound between the Route 288 overpass and Ramp A. The project also includes the design of storm sewer, traffic signal, pavement markings, signs, and maintenance of traffic. The purpose of the project is to improve traffic flow, enhance safety and improve connectivity at the Route 10 and Route 288 interchange. The project will permanently impact 0.91 acres of palustrine forested wetlands (PFO) and temporarily impact 0.5 acres of PFO. The applicant certifies that the project is consistent with the enforceable policies of the Virginia Coastal Zone Management Program. The proposed project is subject to review for consistency with the enforceable policies of the program.
