Public Notice - Norfolk International Airport Transportation Network Companies and Taxi Lot Relocation

  • Date: -

Public Notice

Title (Project Name): Norfolk International Airport Transportation Network Companies and Taxi Lot Relocation

Description: The Norfolk Airport Authority (the applicant) proposes to relocate the existing Transportation Network Companies (TNC) and Taxi staging lots at the Norfolk International Airport in Norfolk, Virginia. The existing TNC and Taxi staging lots are located off of Airport Road between the former Runway 14/32 and Concourse B. The existing lots would be replaced with new parking and staging facilities located off of Robin Hood Road, close to the Air Cargo facility and in a previously disturbed area that has been used as a rental car overflow lot. A portion of Robin Hood Road would be realigned to provide a safer and more gradual curve with a dedicated left turn lane into the new TNC and Taxi lots. The existing public observation area parking lot would also be relocated. In total, the project would result in a reduction of impervious areas by 0.93 acres. A portion of the proposed alignment would be on previously undisturbed areas, extending approximately 30 feet from the existing edge of the pavement. The project would require Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approval as it would update the Airport Layout Plan. Landrum & Brown, on behalf of the applicant, submitted a federal consistency certification (FCC) for the project. The proposed activity is subject to review for consistency with the enforceable policies of the Virginia Coastal Zone Management Program.
