Plan Reviewer for SWM (VA Beach)

Prior to registering for Plan Reviewer for SWM, individuals must:

  1. Complete the Plan Reviewer for ESC course.
  2. Complete SWM online prerequisite training in ELMS.

Participants should have a basic understanding of stormwater runoff hydrologic and hydraulic principles used in stormwater plan design.

Participants should also understand concepts covered in Plan Reviewer for ESC course such as: ESC requirements; ESC law and regulations; ESC plan review; computations for sediment traps and basins, outlet protection, ditches and channels; time of concentration; Rational Method; and Graphical Peak Discharge Method (TR55). These topics provide the foundation that will allow participants to fully engage in this course, relate plan review strategies and tools to plan design, and build on existing skills.

This three-day course is for individuals reviewing SWM plans submitted for approval to a Virginia Erosion and Stormwater Management Program (VESMP) authority or entity with standards and specifications.
